| Steering
Gear
There were 45 operations required to
build a Model T chassis on the first moving assembly
line installed at Ford’s Highland Park, MI, factory.
We had a lot to learn as we have been at this over a
year.
The steering mechanism is now
installed. We restored it completely by disassembling
all of the parts, plating the exposed metal in nickel
and painting the balance black just like the
original.
You can see from the center photo how
nicely our metal platers re-nickled the throttle and
spark advance assembly
Braking System
You can see the hand brake and its
linkage have been installed in the photograph to the
left. Note how it links to the left most petal (Enlarge
the photo for a better view.). The hand lever links to
breaking bands which wrap around the transmission.
