PROVENANCE

Provenance is the origin or source from which something
comes, and the history of subsequent owners.

This page is a work in progress as we are still tracing back the owners of the original car parts. It is doubly difficult in that the chassis came from one source and the body came from yet another.

Frame:
Purchased Jul-16-06 through Ebay $5500.00 From Marvin S. Smith, 643 Alexandra Hwy , Alexandria TN 37012 .

Described on Ebay as:

"This 1922 truck is well on the way to restoration. The truck was running when I bought it last year and I have been working on the cosmetics since. The truck has obviously lived indoors most of its life is not rusted out. I can provide a notarized bill of sale, there is no title."

The body was a wooden pick up as was the cab. It was so amateurishly done that I decided to discard it and replace it with a touring style body.

Marvin indicated he purchased the truck the year before but had no time to continue the restoration. He brought the truck to me on his trailer from Tennessee .

Engine: (VIN # 9779026)
After checking the VIN number it turned out that the engine was produced in April of 1924. In fact 191,999 engines were produced in April of that year. So this was a 1924 Ford.

The engine and transmission were crated and all its components were sent on to Synder’s Antique Auto Parts, 12925 Woodworth Road , New Springfield, Ohio 4443, for a complete overhaul and rebuild as new on 11/ 9/ 2006. The cost including shipping was $6015.50

Body: (Completed and delivered February 22, 2006)
Purchase from Jerry Sweet, Sweet Body Shop, 2000 State Street , Ely , Iowa 5227. This included two rear fenders.

The touring body was all original wood except for the top tack rails which were replaced due to rot and the floor boards. The price of the body was $3600.00

The original windshield was replaced with safety glass for $100.

Extras required included: All new seat springs $250.00. New upholstery, kick panels, top and floor mats which were fitted and installed by Jon Sweet, Jerry's wife at a cost of $875.00 for material and $800.00 labor.

In addition the labor to restore the top irons, install new wood and repaint the body was another $650.00.

I also purchase an original restored set of rear fenders for $300.00 and a set of lamp brackets $40.00 for kersone side lamps I acquired on Ebay.

The total cost was $6,615.00 with a delivery price of $850.00 from Ely, Iowa to New Jersey..

Jerry Sweet purchased the touring body from the estate of Mel Alexander of 2525 N. 88th St. , Omaha , Nebraska 68134. (402-391-3410)  Mel died 09 Sep 2003, He was a very active collector and restorer until his death. Mel conducted annual swap meets for Model Ts in the Nebraska area. The Alexander Memorial Swap Meet, is a fall swap meet held near Manley the first Sunday of October. Mel was a member of the Centennial Model T Club Omaha/Council Bluffs NE.
